The 1st Young Scientists Retreat of the SPP-2410 took place at the Soellerhaus in Hirschegg from September 16th to 20th, 2024. The retreat was a combination of a summer school in the morning hours and project work in the afternoon.
In the morning sessions, the doctoral studens and postdocs had the opportunity to attend 13 lectures given by invited speakers from Germany, France and the USA. The lectures covered introductions to high-order numerical methods for conservation laws, analysis of kinetic equations, convex integration methods for hyperbolic systems and how classical numerical methods can benefit from the combination with data driven methods from machine learning.
In the afternoon sessions, the participants worked on joined projects which they had defined in advance to the workshop covering topics from numerics and analysis. One main focus of this project work was to establish and foster cooperation between the different funded projects in the SPP-2410 and also external scientists.
We thank everybody for their participation and are looking forward to the second edition in September 2025.
